Inspired by The Gashlycrumb Tinies book by Edward Gorey, this zine contains an A-to-Z library shelf of weird, wilful magical books for your tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) of choice.
These waylaid, system-neutral books are designed to spark the imagination and kick-off character development through downtime learning, research, or other character advancement rules. Nothing presented is meant to be proscriptive. Hew, hack, and adapt these found items to fit your table, and foster the kind engaging play that suits you best.
Every book presented has unique abilities which allow characters to interact with their environment in specific ways. The books are quirky, powerful and contain things to research and learn. The rules are written with an OSR base style of game in mind (Shadowdark, OSE, Knave, B/X, etc.), but can be easily adjusted to fit your system and setting. Now any player at your table can experience the risks and rewards of meddling with magical books in your game!
